The Olympics are officially over and with that we return to our regularly scheduled NHL program. In what tends to be some of the best 2-3 weeks of sport we get every 4 years this one hit a little differently. We haven't had best on best at the Olympics in 12 years and with the help of the 4 nations face off from a year ago, the tension and excitement going into this event was like no other. The day after the Super Bowl is always an interesting one, whether it be a sort of recap of the game and how it went in terms of who you wanted to win or what you bet, or what you generally thought of the game. There's also a chance many people are hungover and just struggling to cope with the idea that we don't get football back until August. Either way lets take a recap and really dive into what we saw Sunday night.

While the 90s were an incredibly tough era to play in, the game was at a point where scoring was still expected and something that still came with tough guys. Tie Domi scored 15 goals one year, Bob Probert put up 44 points one year and even Joe Kocur even scored 16 one year.  

I've covered a lot of players from the 80s and 90s and even a line brawl from a few years ago. Today I wanna highlight a player from today's age who is likely the most similar to that of a player in the 80s and 90s.

Once again the playoffs have been delivered and we are left mainly shaking our heads and trying to truly figure out everything that we witnessed this past weekend.

he core of what an enforcer was meant for, came down to protecting the big stars. As the 80s entered an era of high skill and high scoring, we were introduced to players like Mike Bossy, Ray Bourque, Mario Lemieux, and Dale Hawerchuck, but no greater than Wayne Gretzky.

We're officially through 16 weeks of the NFL season, and while it was quite an eventful week in terms of games and player spotlights, I think we should take a peak at the NFL awards and which players are sitting in the front as well as who are the players crying to chase them down!

The best part of line brawls is that they don't happen unexpectedly. There is pretty much always some sort of build up from games prior between the teams. Even pregame in warmups there is generally a little buzz from players working the red line. 

Week 15 delivered another entertaining slate, with impactful storylines across the league. The playoff push intensified, key divisional games took center stage, and the unexpected return of Philip Rivers stole some of the spotlight. Let’s dive into what we saw. 

Probert, just as Domi was born and raised in Windsor Ontario. A much bigger man standing at 6’3 and 225 pounds, Probert was intimidating by just seeing him on the ice. Probert was a strong player in minor hockey. In his 18u season he collected 100 points in 55 games including 60 goals and shockingly only 40 PIMs

With Week 14 officially in the books, the playoff picture is starting to take shape, and some familiar faces are on the outside looking in. This past week delivered exciting games, key injuries, and standout performances. Let’s break down the results from the biggest matchups of the week.

When NHL enforcers are brought up and the list of players begins, you don’t have to go very far before Tie Domi is brought up. It helps that he played over 1000 games and finds himself 3rd in all time penalty minutes, but it's more about the person and persona that Domi had allowing him to be one of the best heavyweights the NHL had ever seen. 

With Thanksgiving week behind us, the NFL season is inching closer to the playoffs. The NFC picture is much cleaner, especially compared to the AFC, which is as crowded as ever. With that in mind, let’s take a look at what we could see come wild card weekend.

Hockey was at its peak in the 90s, that's why I wanted to start with Joey Kocur and his illustrious tough guy career. Now while hockey was at its best in the 90s, to really understand where the tough guy role was created I think it's best to shoot back a few decades and into the 70s.
