The day after the Super Bowl is always an interesting one, whether it be a sort of recap of the game and how it went in terms of who you wanted to win or what you bet, or what you generally thought of the game. There's also a chance many people are hungover and just struggling to cope with the idea that we don't get football back until August. Either way lets take a recap and really dive into what we saw Sunday night.
SB 60 Recap
I won't sit here and say I figured this game would end up this way, but I think it ended up in the most ‘made sense’ way possible. Sam Darnold did an excellent job at protecting the ball, he did what he needed to do, don't turn the ball over, make the right reads, and follow the game script as it's planned out. Kenneth Walker was amazing having over 150 all purpose yards. Cooper Kupp had 61 yards on 6 catches and AJ Barner scored the lone offensive touchdown. Yet it turned out to be the same story as it had been all year long.. The defense. 6 sacks, 2 interceptions and a touchdown turned out to be a major game changer. While Drake Maye’s numbers may look okay with 295 passing yards and 2 touchdowns passes he was silent for most of the game and ultimately what led to Seahawks 16 point victory. I don't want to be the guy who complains about a Super Bowl where we see a blowout with few exciting plays cause in reality people are going to complain no matter what. I enjoyed it as a Sam Darnold GUY, I couldn't be more happy for him, but would I have liked a better game? Sure, I don't think it's crazy to say that. If you're a Pats fan, it sucks, but this is likely the start of what could feel like a 10 year window and a real chance of making multiple Super Bowls. If you're a Seahawks fan, congratulations for a team pinned as overrated and not really having a shot at winning, they really turned heads. If your a fan of any other team, take the time enjoy baseball season, enjoy the olympics NHL and NBA playoffs, March Madness is around the corner, there's no time to sulk, there's plenty of sports to watch and before you know it, it will be week 1 and we can run through the circus all over again.
Novelty Picks
Winner: Seahawks
Score: 27-21
Length of Anthem: Over 119.5 Seconds
Coin Toss: Tails
First Bad Bunny Song: Titi Me Pregunto
Gatorade Colour: Orange
To recap my Novelty picks was essentially a recap of all my rocket td scorers. Ill take credit for the Titi Me Pregunto pick to be the first song that Bad Bunny played that was somewhat sharp, Seahawks to win was pretty easy, or at least it felt like that, the Anthem went under so just a bad pick there same with the Gatorade especially when it fell under the same trend the last 5 Super Bowls has gone under. Novelty betting might be the best part of the Super Bowl, it feels so random but also so calculated at the same time. For the half time show I was a big fan, I've played baseball all my life and as I've gotten older played with a few Latino players who live and die by Bad Bunny, while I can’t speak a lick of Spanish I was able to recognize a few of his songs. Super Bowl is always a great time and even if this game specifically or any other way is deemed a bad game, it's hard to complain when such a vast amount of people get together to celebrate something.
