Sunday Slate Recap

Week 4 of the NFL season gave us everything: upsets, blowouts, defensive slugfests, and a couple of statement wins that could reshape the playoff picture. Here’s a breakdown of how Sunday unfolded.

  • Chiefs 37, Ravens 20 Kansas City looked like itself again. Patrick Mahomes carved up Baltimore’s defence for 4 TDs, while rookie Xavier Worthy returned from injury and added 121 total yards. The Chiefs were flawless on 4th down (4/4), keeping drives alive. Lamar Jackson left in the third quarter with a hamstring injury, and without him, the Ravens couldn’t keep pace.

  • Patriots 42, Panthers 13New England rolled. Rookie QB Drake Maye showed poise, Stefon Diggs crossed the 100-yard mark, and Marcus Jones flipped momentum with an electric 87-yard punt return TD. The Panthers were overmatched from the jump, falling to 0-4 in blowout fashion.

  • Texans 26, Titans 0 Houston finally broke through, and did it emphatically with a shutout. The Texans’ defence dominated at every level, and rookie RB Woody Marks sparked the offence on the ground. Tennessee never found rhythm, turning in one of the ugliest offensive performances of the year.

  • Steelers 24, Vikings 21The NFL’s first-ever game in Ireland delivered drama. Carson Wentz struggled mightily, taking 7 sacks and tossing 2 picks, while the Steelers' defence swarmed. A blocked field goal late helped Pittsburgh hold on. Minnesota’s QB issue feels like their season is close to unravelling.

  • Falcons 34, Commanders 27Atlanta snapped out of its offensive funk behind Bijan Robinson’s big day and rookie QB Michael Penix Jr.’s poise. Washington, already thin on defence, lost more starters midgame and couldn’t stop chunk plays. A late Falcons drive sealed it.

  • Eagles 31, Buccaneers 25One of the weekend’s marquee matchups delivered. Philadelphia’s defence forced a crucial 4th-quarter interception in the end zone, while Jalen Hurts made enough plays down the stretch to keep the Eagles perfect. Tampa Bay’s miscues cost them their chance at 4-0.

  • Rams 27, Colts 20Puka Nacua exploded with 11 catches for 170 yards, all while Tutu Atwell caught the game-winning TD in the final 2 minutes from Matthew Stafford. The Colts controlled stretches of the game but couldn’t close; the Rams’ late heroics flipped the script after Adoni Mitchell dropped the ball running into the endzone.

  • Lions 34, Browns 10Detroit put together a dominant all-around performance. Jared Goff was efficient, Kalif Raymond took a punt 65 yards to the house, and the defence suffocated Cleveland. The Lions look like one of the NFC’s most complete teams.

  • Giants 21, Chargers 18

In his first NFL start, rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart led the New York Giants to a 21–18 victory. Dart accounted for both a rushing and a passing touchdown, finishing with 111 passing yards and 54 rushing yards. His performance helped the Giants secure their first win of the season. Skattebo was solid with 79 yards while Herbert struggled with 2 picks and only 203 yards; Ladd was once again invisible with only 1 catch for 11 yards, still a 3-1 team, but some offensive talk is needed.

Fantasy Update

Last week, I ranked my top Spin & Draft targets for Week 4. Let's look at how those played out.

QB

  • In the QB section, I kept it simple with MVP favourites Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. Josh Allen stayed true, throwing for 209 with 2 PTDs and 45 rush yards, not the best, but it was good for 25 points. Lamar struggled again and just could not find any fluidity. A pick and a bad 4th down conversion rate on top of a hamstring injury kept him at 11 points. Justin Herbert was the worst pick of the week in a truly disappointing loss in New York. 203 yards with 2 picks and a dreadful 4th quarter two-minute drill held him to 14 points

RB

  • Between the 8 picks of CMC, Bijan, Taylor, Cook, Henry, Hampton, Barkley & Gibbs, only Henry struggled mightily, going for 46 yards. Hampton was a huge riser, having a TD and well over 100 yards. Bijan and James Cook also had over 100 yards, while Gibbs and Taylor just missed at 97 & 96 total.

WR

  • It is definitely the year of the RB. While the rankings were not awful, we saw yet another big-name receiver go down in Malik Nabers with a knee injury. Puka Nacua stayed hot, going for 170, while Egbuka capped 100 again. St. Brown kept it hot in the red zone with 2 TDs on 70 yards. After that, it was sort of scarce. Collins had 79 yards on only 4 catches, and Odunze had 69 yards as the Bears pulled to 2-2

TE

  • The TE conversation is going to continue to be an ongoing one. Bowers had 5 catches for 46 yards, Kincaid had a TD, but his only catch was for 28 yards, and Kelce had another very average 5 catches for 48 yards.

Player Picks

ree

Last week I had the More on JSN’s receiving yards and Kyler Murray’s rush yards. Unfortunately, the line jumped, and I only got it at 82.5, and he finished at 79. Meanwhile, Murray easily cashed his leg. That brings us to 2-2 and up 3 units. This week, we are going to switch it up and pick some TD scorers.

  • Puka Nacua

    • I have to jump on the train right now. This guy is going to win OPOY. It doesn't matter when you give him the ball or where; this guy is a flat-out machine. Let's get him back in the endzone in an important divisional game.

  • Cam Skattebo

    • Let's ride with the rookies on the giants. Dart looks great, and I think we'll start to see even more run game with Skattebo as Nabers is out for some time. Skattebo, coming off his highest yardage game yet, should be a lock to get into the endzone.
